The challenges of the last few months have left many of us feeling disheartened and uncertain. But one thing is clear: We cannot afford to retreat into silence. We cannot wait for the next election, the next policy shift, or the next “big moment” to make a change. Democracy is a long-term project, and public schools are at the very heart of that work.

Why This Campaign?

Public education is under attack. The Department of Education is being systematically drained. Anti-racism efforts are being rolled back. Segregation continues to creep back into our schools. The forces working against public education are organized, well-funded, and relentless. If we do nothing, we are complicit.

This campaign is our stand.

We refuse to accept a future where public schools become exclusive, inequitable, or worse, nonexistent. We refuse to let families feel powerless. We refuse to be parents and caregivers that sit on the sidelines when we can be leveraging our influence and experience for change.

Our Campaign Goals

  1. Equip, Energize and Mobilize Families for Action 
  2. National Moment of Visibility (5/17 Brown v. Board anniversary)
  3. Drive a Narrative Shift on Public Education
  4. Raise Critical Funds to Sustain and Grow Our Work 

We will be talking more about this in the coming weeks, but for now, we want to offer the opportunity to join us as a supporter! 

 

Public education is not just about classrooms and textbooks; it’s about shaping the future of our society. It’s about building a community where every child—regardless of their background, race, or economic status—has the chance to thrive and contribute to a stronger, more inclusive democracy.

Norma Wong, an activist and organizer, speaks of Horizon Planning: the necessity to build for a future we want, beyond the immediate horizon. And the truth is, we can’t wait. We must act now, and public schools are our best tool for that action.
