What if we grew the next generation of teachers (or politicians, policymakers, lawyers, doctors, colonels, business-owners, for that matter) in diverse schools? Wanting to “do good” is laudable and indeed our country was built on it… but when ones experiences are so distant from ones work, is it not based on pity than deep/visceral empathy? And pity is only a heartbeat away from contempt. it matters.
