We are moving forward! January was a tough month for us all as we grappled with the grief of losing Courtney so abruptly. Her memorial in LA at mid-month was filled with laughter and tears, heartfelt stories from family and friends and a few sips of her favorite...Hellos and Goodbyes
This weekend, we celebrated the life and work of our beloved founder, Courtney Everts Mykytyn. Members of the Integrated Schools parent board, advisory board, and chapter leaders convened in Los Angeles, Courtney’s hometown, to grieve and mourn together. After a private service for family and friends, Saturday evening was a specific time set aside for the beautiful community she created to gather to celebrate her life’s work and the growing movement of Integrated Schools.
Tragedy Strikes the Integrated Schools Family
Though many of you may have already heard, it is with the saddest possible hearts that we share the devastating news that our beloved Executive Director and Founder, Courtney Everts Mykytyn, passed away on Monday afternoon. She was struck by a car in front of her house and was killed instantly.
We can never replace Courtney, but we can ensure her legacy continues to grow through Integrated Schools. She wanted this thing to stand on its own two feet, and we can assure you it will. There is a dedicated group of us, her “all-volunteer army” as she called it, who is as committed as ever to continuing and growing this movement. We want to assure you that the team she built of dedicated integration warriors is here, grieving, but determined to make her proud.
